I can't really tell from your pic there isn't enough detail, but looks like it could be a monitpora but maze pattern has me confused try looking at pics of monti's and maze brains and see if either are close.

It encrust the rock like coralline algae and it really has no three dimensional depth to it. But it is brownish green and it looks has a bunch of trails in its texture like a maze or termites through wood kind of thing. I can't get a better picture

Is it soft? Maybe looks like this? This is a picture of a yellow sponge I believe.

No its not soft. It reminds me of an SPS but with no polyps visible to the

[hr]
eye. Definately not a sponge
