Is this a brittlestar, or a seastar?
FWIW, I have never had issues with Asterina stars (this is the SEASTAR), and rarely are they a problem. Overpopulation is due to OVERFEEDING the tank...it is a good population to monitor actually, they are indicators of problems.
Rarely, very rarely, is a predatory species found. Most people, IMO, likely have Asterina stars if they have live rock. There ARE problematic forms but then...so are the hermits, and many other possible inhabitants of our systems (worms, crabs, etc)
BTW, it is unlikely to get larger.
