Sold as an open brain, but very different than any others I've seen, maybe some type of lobophyllia? Anybody?

Looks to me like Trachyphyllia sp. (Edited: I think it's a Lobophyllia, sorry about that. If I could write and think the same thing I would be dangerous.)
How long have you had it? It appears to be having some issues.

I'm thinking it's a lobophyllia. The skeleton looks like the one I had with my red lobophyllia.

'course I'm no expert though....

Not sure of the Trachyphyllia part will defer to those in the know but it does not look happy. Not at all puffy like an open brain should be and showing some of the base skeleton. Is it eating anything?

Thanks guys; yes it has issues ~ buried twice in sand yesterday by an errant powerhead at the LFS, additionally, its been in his tank for over a month now ~ went in to buy it a few weeks ago and it and decided against it, cause it was retracted then. Saw the poor thing again yesterday and the owner told me to take it and try it, if it cratered he'd replace it with another. So I thought I would see what I could do. Haven't tried feeding it yet ~ any suggestions on food?

Yeah mysis, krill, cyclopeeze. Is it in a tank where you can turn off the flow for a while so it can grab the food without interference. Also no crabs of shrimp to steal the food while it is eating? If not I would suggest cutting off the bottom of a large pop bottle or someting to act as a cover to protect it while eating.

Very good, I have the krill and cyclopeeze already and been meaning to pick up some mysis; will do so tomorrow. Will test reaction to food ASAP ~ hermit crabs maybe a problem, will have to check and see. Thanks again guys.
