I THINK its a Eunicid worm. I'm not 100% sure as I don't have its head and half the body. I only have half the body. The half that I have is about 18-19 inches long. I'm not sure how long the other half was that is in the tank. Accidentally got cut in half when i was taking it out. Here are a few pictures.

Hes still alive and well, I'm going to keep him till I can get a positive ID on him.

It is a coral eater, Cranberry has one she keeps in its own little tank. If you only have 1/2 of it, then the other half is still alive and well.

give it time. An aquarium "blue something" had one 8 feet long, they went looking for it because the coral started being eaten. It has to be in that tank a very long time to get that big.

Bobbit worm!!

Is that its real name? Because when I google that name I get some silly story about a

eating worm, claiming thats where it got its name after that lady who cut her husbands off. Mr. Bobbit cheated, she paid him back.

Ha Ha they live wherever they want to! I am sure Renee will chime in here soon. My understanding is that hers is a Bobbit and my guess is that CK's is too.

The article I posted called it a eunicid worm...but...
I change my mind...eunicid worms are harmless according to my book and I know those things eat coral, so my vote is bobbit worm as well.

Yup, Bobbit = common name. Eunicid = scientific name. So y'all are right.
I have one in a 3g pico. Don't put that back in your tank!

I'm going to set up a little pico tank for it as well. The headless half that I have right now will regrow a head and be as good as new again right?

It's probably the head part that will grow. The bottom half on mine just died.

Just wondering why you would want to keep this other then for research purpose's

We all have different interests and likes. I like cool critter stuff... and I find clownfish distasteful. I would never buy one and I make a silent ugly face when I see a beautiful tank with a clown in it.
