I currently have a 60gal aquarium and want to upgrade to a 120gal. I did build the stand for my current aquarium - but wanted to see if anybody has any other ideas/designs.

First, welcome to SWF.
Second, since we have no idea what your current stand looks like, you're going to have to provide just a tad more info. Otherwise, how do we know what is different?
Here's a link to one I built out of blue pine and logs;

And my personal one is built out of aromatic cedar as part of a built in whole wall unit;

Very nice job on the construction. I will post a pic of mine this weekend.
My frame is constructed from 2x4's and the wrap is pine. It has two small flush pull down doors on the bottom - two flush doors above that and two pull out work trays above the doors.
I actually do like the style and probably will keep something similar. I guess my real questions would be regarding support. I just want to make sure that the frame will support a 120gal tank. The water alone will be about 1000 lbs. - then tack on the sump, live rock, misc equipment. It's like having a small elephant living in your room.

Thanks - looking forward to pictures of yours, I like the idea of incorperating work trays. While 2x4 construction is more than adequate to support a 125 gallon tank (especially if you are doubling the corners), you can always do what I did on the log stand and go with 2x6 construction. Remember that the majority of your weight is going to be distributed to the ends of the tank, and that is where most of your support needs to be. On a 6' long tank, I would also include at least a single support in the front, and two in the rear. Many people feel they need more than that in the front, but it isn't really needed, and it makes getting into and out of the stand way too difficult IMO.
