naso tang - a fish that will get incredibly too large for both a 55 and 90 and is one that grows the fastest.
What you said about the spots is true though - they are just stress spots and indeed not ich.

see i thought it was a naso to BUT it does not resemble anythign to a naso if i could show you to it in real life. Its much more darker and doesnt have the *lip stick* feature

It is 100% a naso tang. I have gotten these before when I worked in the retail end of this hobby and I have seen them dozens of times. It probably ran you about $30-$40, right?
It is not a member of the acanthurus family.
Besides, only members of the naso family (naso tang, unicorn, and vlamingi) get those stress spots.

it is aproxiametly 3 inches.........how long do i have before i have to sell it? (90 gallon its going in)
i was wondering why the lfs told me it was a kole tang (which i foudn out it wasnt) and they gave it to me for 30$.......

The Naso family consists of fish that grow very quickly. My naso (which is a vlamingi) has quadrupled in size from 2 inches to almost 8 inches in 2 years. You are looking at a fish that eats a lot and grows at a fast rate.

It's definitely a naso, can't tell from the coloring but it could be a blonde naso. And I agree, it won't be good in a 55 Or a 90 as they get up to 18" long, which is almost 40% the length of the 90g tank....

Hopefully you have more foods other than live, because live is not healthy or nutritional at all (unless you have found a cheap way to get live mysis shrimp, live clam, live plankton, live oysters, and fresh kelp).

i have live mysis, brine, oyster (think its oyster) but the kelp/seaweed is store bought.
i have a friend that live about 4 blocks from me and he has a picky tank of some sorta wierd tang that he found and a school of yellow jack fish (he has a sweet 600 gallon tank i gotta show u the pics some times)
ne ways long story short he gives me half of his brine mysis and oyster for 10 bucks a month. is that ok for the tang or no?

IMO, good diet is no supplement to cramped quarters. Even though it's not full size now, the size of the tank could still cause it to be stressed and unhealthy.

Dont settle for half store credit if you return it. I would say this....keep it for a little while. Keep track of its aggression and growth rate. Nasos are reef safe and generally great fish, and I would recommend you work out some deal with your friend with the 600 gallon tank, because it would do lovely in there.
Im not tang expert, but I tried to address the problem and let you get some enjoyment out of the piece that was mislabeled. Good luck with it.
