Identification Of This Creepy Crawler Please!

Tank has been up for more than 3 months and I have never seen one of these,,,,,gross!! White and lots oflegs and 2 antennae out front? Good or bad, just hanging on the side of the tank. thanks!!

kind of looks like cross between an insect and a slug...I have only seen the one...worrying it is a nudibranch and maybe has eating some of my zoos. I wish I would have just removed him but was so unsure. what do you think?

I know the spelling is not right on that last post. Here is a pic.. They can straighten their tails out and walk with their legs out to the side...

Those look way too large to be an amphipod. I was going to say nudibranch until I read that they had lots of legs. Are you sure the legs aren't filter feeding tentacles?

Corophium heteroceratum Here is another type of little bug... There are so many different species, it is hard to tell. The second photo looks similar to your little bugs. They are very common and are very healthy for your tank.

I have some of these guys in my fuge that are about a 1/2 inch long. They curl their back legs and tail so they look shorter but when stretched out and walking they can be about 1/2 -3/4 inch long.

Arent sandfleas actually ampipods? Just really big ones. Makes you think twice about playing in the sand at the beach...

I don't believe sand fleas are amphipods. Amphipods spent 100% of their time submerged in water or they croak.

yep guys, I am not sure, I think it looks alot like that last nudi pic but his legs were definitely not green but a clear white..and top of body was a cream brownish but did look alot like that. I am hoping it is not going to disturb my zoos......here are some new pics of the tank! Just over 3 months old....lights were just turned on when pics taken so my zoos were not all the way open in one of the bunches....will be on the lookout for some new coral tomorrow at lfs, they just got some and wanting to get a tang....not sure which one, I guess I will know when I see him.....gonna do an upgrade to a 135 or greater soon but have a 90 right now....the tang will be small so tang police lighten up, I promise him a 6 foot tank soon.....

Ohiorn, hey those are polyp eating nudibranchs!! I know b/c I have them too, the exact same ones, great pic of it. They have been eating and killing two of my zoo colonies. So far I have been picking them out with tweezers, which doesn't get them fast enough, and if you have two then you have eggs as well. I did an Iodine dip for 7 minutes on my to colonies with good results! Still pulling one or two out with tweezers, had to have been eggs b/c I have killed about 25-30 of em. My guys at the LFS said to do the iodine and tweezers and if all else fails a freshwater dip. Said it will take a month or two to eradicate them all. HTH. Any other questions let me know.

ugh!!! I have the reef iodine that I dose with, is this what you use? can you tell me how to do this? This was the first one I have ever seen in the tank, so you are lucky at least you see them. I have no idea where he has now gone but yes I have one particular zoo colony that was gorgeous and now only have full....at least I know now that it was not somehow my water...kept checking but could not figure it out. I guess I will just take care of that one colony because I don't see my others have ever gotten touched. Hopefully since I have seen it once I will see it again...how frustrating!! I definitely think it is the nudi .....my first pain in the $#%^--# hitchhiker!! :mad:

Ok the Iodine I used was given to me by my LFS guy, I think it was Iodine Tech-D or something like this. You use one teaspoon per quart of water. I put it in an empty small bucket I had. Dip for 7 minutes no longer! You will see some of them fall off and I swished it a bit to dislodge others. I have only dipped once and am still pulling one or two out, may try another dip today. Good luck.
