H. Erectus
also known as lined seahorse are a deep chested-hardy seahorse. They often have lined patterns and may have saddle markings. They come is a variety of colors that may change with thier environment. They may or may not have cirri.

How about whether it is a male or female and what characteristics define the species it is also?
Good idea Theresa.

my kellogi's -my favorites of all....if only they would survive for more than 5 months
water quality perfect, lots of air lines, filters etc...but alas my 2 died 2 years ago and I still think about them. They were my most playfull and flirty of all my horses....very long and thin...thinner than reidi's

This is my female Juvenile Kelloggi I just lost last week.I had her over a month.Water quality was perfect. Not a healthy species of horses but very Flirty, social, playful and active (I liked how you described them Cleve)
She loved playing in the powerhead current.
The only downside besides them not being the healthiest horse,is they do not change color to much. They usually stay a dark brown/black or somtimes a light brown or peach color.
I miss my baby girl.

Another thing I find with horses are they are very hard to take pictures of...lol
I am a photographer and all my pictures I took of my horse were terrible...lol

I was reading your posts about her and it brought back memories of mine....just 1 day a horse would stop eating and pass and a week later the other 1 passed. I'm very sorry , I know how it feels to lose them. The more I read about them it seems there all pen raised....and are a deeper water horse and can't survive in home aquariums....again I'm sorry about your horse
maybe when your ready you can try erectus....there alot hardier, but not as flity

Thanks Cleve.
Yeah she stopped eating and was not swimming around one day and the next day dead. She went downhill so fast. There were no signs of illness as the day before she stopped eating, she was playing and eating and acting normal.
I do want to try CB Erectus or Reidi in the future.I originally was going to get Erectus.
I want to try to put them in the same tank as where the Kelloggi was but I am worried there may be disease or something.
I want to start a 50 gallon for horses but money wise that does not look like it's happening anytime soon...lol

What's the point of posting if you don't have kind words.
I don't deal with taking photos of animals and the pictures of my seahorse were taken with just a crappy point and shoot camera and not my professional one.She would have been blinded from fear from my extended flash.I sell my scenery photos.I also do wedding photos.
Martha Stewart has one of my photos framed of Lady Slipper flowers.

Here are some pictures of my work including the one Martha has:

So try to be a little nicer.

JA....I thought your pics were quite beautiful.....alot nicer than mine...lol...don''t let anything bring you down ...I say
but thats just me...lmao

The sunset pic is stunning. I'd hire ya. Horses are REALLY irritating to try and photograph, aren't they? You get one in focus, and just as the shutter closes, he drifts off. Only fish I've had a harder time photographing is my mandarin. I swear that fish KNOWS when the camera is on her.

Thanks.
Oh I don't care I found it funny...lol
Yeah seahorses are not fun to photograph.Plus I did not use my nice Olympus SLR camera as as I said before the flash would have shocked her to much....lol...It scares people...lol

But the hardest fish IMO is Pygmy angels...They are always moving.

I have had my Kelloggi's for over two years now. I did lose my male seahorse about a month ago from a battle with pouch emphysema. My four other females are doing great though. There was some talk a while back that Kelloggi's were being imported from two places. One was CB and the others are being WC. Perhaps I just got lucky and got mine from a CB dealer.
As far as the coloring goes I will agree with you on that. They don't have the beautiful colors like H. Erectus or H. Reidi. They did turn almost completely white during the courting dance.
