Can someone please help me identify, I found this in our tank last night and have never seen it before, its already back in hiding again today, but just curious as to what it may be. Thanks!

Where do they come from? We havent bought anything new to have a hitchhiker unless it had been really small and grown over time. Are they safe?

I had these guys in my tank. At first there was one, and I even saw him get up on his hind quarters and spit out eggs into the current. My fish would rush in and snack. They multiplied quickly and before I knew it there were tons of them everywhere. Eventually most of them disappeared and only a stable population was left.
