If I use a mag 7 pump with a wet/dry filter (skimmer built in) would I still need powerheads? I read somewhere on here that I would need 550 to 835 gph (i think, i hope) and the pump is rated at 700 gph. I'm in the process of setting up a 55 gallon fowlr.

Everything that I've been reading says 10 to 20 times/gallon for water movement. Also you have to take into account head heigth. I'm also running a mag7 in my 90gal. but at 5'10" head it's only putting a little over 400gph to the tank. I'm planning on buying 2 Seio 820 for my tank then plan to upgrade to the Mag9.5 sometime in the future. Hope this helps.

IMO, you would need a total of OVER 1100 gph just with fish and LR. Water movement is the key here.
