I'd buy myself a house here in Townsville Australia. I'd then buy a boat and spend the rest of my life diving at the greatest aquarium in the world...the great barrier reef. Oh and take some trips up to thailand...malaysia etc.
Good on ya

I just watched the Crown of Thorns special about the great barrier, from someone who is local whats your take on it. I know the cycle is normally like 20 years or so, I think for the bloom in species. Pretty amazing to see that they are injecting each arm of the COT's they find to try and control the species in select areas. From what I saw they kill like thousands a day and they are still eating the reef, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it like 30% of the worlds population of corals, not just in Australia that is in danger, I realize it's just a cycle but his one is more based on nutrient runoff from farming?

I never seen the special... but, I just came back from a dive trip from GBR, south side. I only visited the inner reefs. It was great. Surface water was 84deg. Tons of corals/fish. I saw clam as large as a table. Coral colony larger than a minivan. The good reef (outter reefs) would have taken 4hr+ by boat from the coast. From what the local ppl said, the reef had suffer massively for the past 20 years. Dang tourists, polutions, global warming...oh well...
I would assume 100% of the coral population is in danger.

what about building a massive house that sits ontop of a 200,000 gallon fish tank so that when you go down the basement stairs your accually stepping into your tank so that you can dive down and place your corals wherever you want and swim with your fish?
Or just buy the atlanta aquarium and kick everyone out build a bedroom and pay the staff to maintain your tanks.

Speaking of home and unlimited $$$$$, you might be interested in investing/staying in Poseidon Undersea Resorts...
What makes the undersea suites so special?
About 60% of the exterior surface of the suite is transparent acrylic making the undersea views panoramic. Outside of the sitting area of each suite will be a private artificial reef that will be the home for unique varieties of marine life. Each suite will also have its own underwater lights controllable from an inside switch and an external fish feeder (limited use per 24 hours) as well. Guests will be able to push a button and feed the fish outside.
The level of luxury in the suites themselves will be unsurpassed with the finest fabrics, woods and fixtures. Each suite has a large jacuzzi tub with fabulous views of the sea floor as well.

My dream tank would be a "U" shaped tank, maybe 4-5000 gallons with a 1000gallon lagoon area, I would like the over flow to to be on the side of the tank and to actually creat sort of a waterfall effect and then spill into the floor mounted lagoon where about 1/3 of the lagoon would be covered with glass so that you could walk on it or rather walk thur it to get to the "Viewing Chair"a M.K. Custom reclining leather chair situated in the inside loop of the tank so that I could surround myself on three sides with nothing but glorious reef. Martin Logan ascent i's speakers for the perfect sound (already have those)

 How big of a tank would I have to have to keep Vin Diesel?
Kidding! :hilarious
I'd love to have a basement room with a circular tank of about a thousand gallons or so and keep a Tessa moray and whatever fish it couldn't eat. I think they're the most amazing, awesome creatures. The tank would have to be tall enough that the MH didn't filter down all the way, leaving shadowy areas... lots of rics and shrooms and gorgonias and suncoral and zoas on top. They're my favorites. Yes, I realize those are probably the most boring corals to everyone else!
On second thought, if money was no object, I'd go buy a house in Bora Bora or something and wouldn't NEED a tank. :joy:

if i could have it my way i would get my own island that was in a shape of a circle, with some way of having the ocean water come thought for flow and natural water change. and well u can imagine where we would go from there.

wow you brought back a 5 year old thread! A good one though.... this one makes me wanna post something anyways.
I would have a saltwater/freshwater vivarium, roughly 10,000 Gallons... complete with a mudskipper beach, amphibians and reptiles, and a desert. Not to mention typical, only sps, and non photosynthetic reefs...

We wouldn't enjoy this hobby as much as we do because there would be no challenges with what we have to work with in our tanks, see the million dollor tanks on the internet I bet the owners don't know a thing about this hobby. But then on the other hand to dream - and yah this thread is really old.
