If power goes out in middle of the night.....

With all the storms that are happening around the country......How long does everyone think a tank can maintain itself during a power failure, before it starts to crash?
I have backup power sources, but I have to come out and hook everything up and start a generator, and in the middle of the night I may not realize the power is out.

I use a battery backup. A few months ago the power went out for several hours. It was out long enough that the battery backup died, but, the tank survived for an additional 2 hours until the power can back on.

it will be ok for I'd say up to 4-5 hours but you can take water from the tank and keep dumping it back in to aerate and cover the tank with a blanket to help insulate it. Dont feed the fish and always have extra premixed water for a water change.

Your tank will be fine. The winter before last, we had a hell of an ice storm in OKC. I had no power for 1 1/2 weeks. I wrapped the tank in comforters for insulation from the cold, and when the power came back on everything was alive. No water movement, heat, food, or light for a week and a half.

Had the power go out on me last winter a few times. I stayed up all night floating hot water containers (had a gas stove) in the tank, and stirring the water for circulation.

i lost my power for two day's this winter, and everything in my tank did well, i was just worried about the water temp, so i put a kerosene heater near it and it kept the temp (to he@@ with the kids keeping warm, the tank cost more :D )
