My Lion fish has lost all the webbing between its fins and spikes. He spend a lot of time hiding in the rocks. Could my trigger (huma numa) or foxface rabbit fish be bother him. I haven't seen them chasing him around. He eats morning and night and I thought he was doing well, but down understand what is happening with his fins. Any suggestions? Is he sick?

What kind of trigger? They can be fin nippers and problems with lionfish. Also, a 35 or 55 is most likely too small for a lion, especially a volitans. What kind of lion? What are your water parameters?

It's definitely your humu humu harrassing the lion. Triggers should not be kept in a tank with lions, and that is way too small of a tank for those fish anyway. A lion can stay in a tank that size for a little while, but a trigger cannot, especially with a lion that it is going to pick on without end.
Also, feeding that lion twice a day is overfeeding him anyways.
I would remove the trigger and continue feeding the lion at that rate until his fins grow back (to not shock him), but after that, cut back the feedings. How high are your nitrates??

Thanks for the replies. I will check all my perimeters in the tank to see what the readings are.
I believe my Humma has definitely harassed the Lion fish. The Lion is new to the tank and the Humma is 2 years in the tank.
Can I put the Lion into a Reef tank? I moved my two clowns out of the saltwater tank when I got the Lion because of experience. Lost expensive clowns to a Lion many years ago because I was late feeding the Lion.
Not sure what to do to make things happy

The only solution is to remove the trigger because that is not an adequate size to house a humu humu anyways. Plus, you will be able to put more in the 55 with the trigger out.
