I'm adding sand and rock. My question is...

I'm adding both dead and live sand, as well as live rock.
Questions:
1. Should I add fish to aid in cycling? or is live stuff good?
2. What do I feed my live sand/rock?
is this enough info? Thanks in advance.

Your tank should cycle fine with the live sand/rock start.But adding a piece of fresh shrimp couldn't hurt...adding a fish or two(damsels or chromis)is really up to you.But most people will say "spare the fishes lives"...

I agree... I really don't want to sacrifice a fish just to cycle. How long do I leave the shrimp in for? Just long enough to cycle? Won't it start to smell?

You may get some smell from it,But that means that it is working.I would just leave it in there,It will compleatly rot away in time...If you want you can put it behind the rock so you don't have to look at the rotting carcass...

you might wanna weight it down or something. when i did it i had a couple of them start to float. that was pretty sick.

How big should the shrimp be and how many?
Are we talikng the jumbo shrimp or what?
And I should just leave it in there?
