I'm Almost Ready

Well, I’ve been lurking on the site for a little while and I'm picking up some really good advice. I think I’m very close to taking the plunge into the Marine World.
I have been thinking about converting my 56-gal (30”x18”x20”) freshwater tank. I’ve been running my tank for 5-years and I believe I’ve developed some good habits, but I don’t know how to fully adapt my skills to the Marine World. I really want to do things the right way and I know I’m not quite ready. I’m in no hurry I’m enjoying the journey. I have started my marine library with “The Conscientious Marine Aquarist” by Fenner, “The New Marine Aquarium” by Paletta and “Marine Fishes – Pocket Expert” by Michael. I also just started a subscription to "Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine"
My short-term goal is a FOWLR, but I want to build in some flexibility. I have real questions about lighting. I love the idea of having Live Rock as my filtration and my ‘center piece’. I am running two Emperor 280’s on my 56-gal and, if possible, I want like to use one along with a Protean Skimmer, but again I want to do what’s right.
I have many questions, not to mention some concerns, so I may get to be a real pest around here.
