What's the rule for mixing tangs? 1 per body type? I'm considering Kole, Yellow, Purple, Regal, and Achilies (not all of them, obviously) and I want to know how I can mix them.

I could be wrong, but I've always read you can't mix the same species of tangs (such as yellows & purples). I'd be interested to know, as well.

Yea I think its something like boby type.
For example if 2 tangs look very similar like a purple tang and yellow tang they will tend to fight with each other.
I'm sure a tang expert will chime in and set the record straight.

Yea, I know... I'm planning out my 125 that I'm setting up. I try to have some idea where I'm going with it before I actually start buying stuff.

i had a purple in my 135 for the longest time and i added a yellow. They fought for a little bit, but now its like they are best friends because they swim everywhere together!!! i dunno, i think if you did want to do a yellow and purple get them about the same size, and introduce them at the same time. THen again i have seen some really small purps that were total @$$holes! good luck!

well, i have ot comment on youtr title,
YOU ARE NOT AN IDIOT!!!!!
the best thing you did was recognize the fact that you weren't sure, then sought the answer, so therefore youare smarter than the average reef keeper, and you are planning ahed, i must say you are more intelligent than you give yourself credit for, by not assuming or guessing
body type, and also consider the tang(species size), in stocking limits as well, however there are no guarentees, this is only a generla rule

thanks for the info all... much appreciated.
kyarnkid - I've had my mandarin for about a year. He eats almost exclusively copepods, but occasionally I see him eating brine.
