:notsure:
Ok, this has not happened w/ ANY of my other 3 sw tanks. I set the thing up about 3.5 weeks ago w/ ls, 15 lbs lr (mostly cured) and half ro and half tap. YES I know tap sucks, but I only had so many freakin buckets for the ro.-Don't have a unit yet.... An RO unit that is! lol.... nevermind... anywayz, Yesterday, I noticed the water is a green cloudy, and I mean BAD! Can't even see the back! This is a 29 btw. I would not be asking if I wasn't stumped. My water tested out fine on trates, trites, ammonia, ph, calcium, alk, but not phosphates. I didn't think the tap here was THAT bad. But then again, I don't think it's the phosphates in the tap... There is a Coralife 2x65 on it, brand new. I don't know what this is, so if anybody else has experienced this during there cycle, please gimme some info!-THANX!:

Sounds like an algae bloom to me too. Are you running any mechanical filtration? Maybe a HOB filter w/ floss would help. Do you have a skimmer hooked up yet? I know i had the same problem a few years back when i set up my 38g, but i don't remember what i did to resolve the problem, or possably it fxed itself. I'm sure others will chime in and give more advise than i can offer.

my guess is there were too many nutrients in the tap water you used in combination with the tank being 3.5 weeks old/new. It is cycling. I would do a 20% change with RO now, wait a week and do another 20%. I would add some carbon to the sump.
Good luck.

I would put a hang on filter w/ carbon and a skimmer to clear the tank up. You probably know this.
Is there a lot of algae growing on the LR or sand?
How long are your lights on?

no growth on sand or rock. I'm putting a skimmer on it tomorrow and switching the lights back to 6 hrs.
