I'm excited

Well, I went on vacation for 10 days and got back last night. When I checked on my tank I found BOTH of my maroons hosting the btas! My female always has...but she only "tolerated" the male since I got him last spring. She'd let him be near them but never in the bta's. He's been fine just hanging around her...and sometimes shimmying but they never really got too close.
Now they are both hosting the same bta at times and she's not being mean at all to him anymore. The other cool thing is he's a gold stripe...and his stripe on the first white band is finally turning color (she's a regular maroon). I guess he's finally growing up! awwww, cute!

Aww that is so cute!! I guess she's getting alot more comfortable with him around so maybe they'll mate!!
I'm very exited for you and I hope you have good luck!

I think he is!
I don't think I want to try the whole breeding thing (if they want to...they can have at it though). I'm just glad they are pairing up and getting along finally.

It's funny...I also have a pair of false percs in the tank with them (not by choice...had to put them in there temporarily) and it seems that my female maroon has mellowed. She used to go after the other pair but they kindof fought back and she laid off. Now everyone is one big happy group and has been for a couple months! I'm probably still going to have to figure out something with the pair of percs (I'm sure both pairs of clowns won't last in harmony forever) but for now it's all good!
Each pair has their "spot" in the tank...of course the maroons have the bta's so the percs hang out by my leather on the other side.
