I'm going to Hawaii!!! YAY!!!

hehehe... i just wanted to brag a little, mainly because i really don't have anyone here to brag to... but I'm going to Hawaii with my cousin and my sister!!! I'm soooo psyched!!! I got to go there on my honeymoon last year, but i was sick the entire time... so i didn't really get to see that much of Hawaii... but this time is going to be great!!!
We're staying on Oahu in Honolulu at a hotel named the Royal Grove Hotel.
We're going to be there for a week, and this is what i have planned so far:
*aquarium & zoo (this is a definate must!!!)
*some sort of mountain climbing excursion
*snorkeling (also another definate must!!!)
*surf lessons
*a LOT of lazing about and lying on the beach
*a LOT MORE shopping
*pineapple picking
*visiting other small cities & maybe a trip to the north shore of Oahu
*luau
So has anyone else been to Honolulu? Do you have any other suggestions of stuff to do while we're there? This is in like 3 years, so it's not that urgent... lol! But i like to dream about it, and if i know of stuff to do while we're there, i can dream about that too!!! Any suggestions are most appreciated!!!

What about scuba? Is it the season for diving with whale sharks?

A freind of ours was in Hawaii a few years back and spoke of an aquarium. I not sure which island its on, but they did enjoy it. BUT since your planning on snorkling, that is a lot more fun :joy:

i can't really scuba dive... i have bad ears, and even snorkeling is going to be a problem... the pressure hurts my ears really bad... i can't even go to the bottom of the shallow end of my parent's pool... but i would LOVE to scuba dive, that would be awesome!!! I've never been before... do they have some sort of ear plugs or something.

Unfortunately, even with ear plugs the pressure would probably bother your ears. You might want to check with a scuba shop.
How cool would it be though to dive with whale sharks? It's only available in Hawaii during their migration season... not sure exactly when.

I am not sure plugs will help elminate pressure problems on the ear.

Sounds Like a ton of FUN!!! I was there in 2002 and did all that you have listed.
the aquarium is really awesome!!! they were adding on while i was there so i didnt get to see the whole thing (I had some pix posted in a thread at one point i think the thread was titles trip to aquarium in hawaii). we also took a moped trip up the coast, that was a blast!!! check out the dole pineapple plant and go through the maze. Have fun!!!

Were you in Honolulu? So there is an aquarium in Honolulu? Are there any restaraunts you suggest while we're there?

there is a human sized maze...it used to be the biggest maze in the world, but i think it has been passed up now...we stayed in the

hawaiian village in honalulu...we also took a sunset dinner cruise(on atlantis) that came with a submarine trip the next day...that was well worth the cash!!! we also did waimea falls (mountain hike), and waimea beach, a midnght shark hunt (IMO this was the best and most fun of the trip, the captain and first mate were a freakin riot and were super cool!!!), the punch bowl, and Pearl Harbor. on the moped trip we went to henoma bay (spelling?) and to the blow holes, this was a day well spent!
as far as resturaunts the only one I can remember the name of is The Shore Bird, its in a hotel on the beach ( i think the outrigger) there was a father and son band in there that were amazing they played everything from TOOL to Tony Orlando and some original stuff...we hung out with em after closing one night, they were ver cool.

there's a human maze in panama city beach i used to go to all of the time when we lived down there. It was awesome!!!
hmmmm... midnight shark hunt... what exactly is that? You get on a boat, go to the middle of the ocean and try to catch sharks???

yup...you get on a fishing boat, and fish for reef sharks...we caught 8 sharks and the biggest one was almost 7 feet...the shark is caught with barbless hooks and are released. the sister boat that went out with us caught a tiger shark (i think) that was over 13 feet, a guy that was staying in our hotel had video of it, when the shark surfaced everyone on the boat ran to the other side...
at the maze they have 6 stops that you have to make and you are timed, it is fun...

how fun. yeah, the maze in florida had 4 stops, and if you beat like 20 minutes, you get free stuff. It was so much fun!!!

i just went last summer w/ people to poeple... i went to oahu and the big isladn, make sure u go to a black sand beach THEY ARE AMAZING, the sand is crushed volcanic ash

the qwikest time at this one was under 3 min...those people had to be an employee or a former employee...it took us right at 25 min...

JD...if I remember...you're married, right? If you're planning a trip for 3 years away, I would look into vacation insurance just in case...if you're paying for things right now. What if you got pregnant?? :jumping: :jumping:
That happened to us..had a big trip planned, got pregnant, & had to cancel last minute. Lost a bunch of $$ because I had complications & couldn't go...
Just a thought on the practical side

ohhh, i'm not paying for anything until at least 2008... lol. I just really like thinking about it, and this is fun! But yes, i'll definately look into that for when i do start paying for stuff.
And yes, i've been happily married for a whole year now!

btw, please don't jinx me with that whole "pregnant" crap! i don't want babies for another 5 or 6 years!!!
