ok, i probably won't even get any replies to this, but i don't care. My sister made the honor roll for the first time in her entire life!!! (she's a senior in high school). She got 4 B's and 2 A's!!! She normally slinks through with about 4 D's and 2 C's!!! I'm soooo incredibly proud of her! AND it's the rule in our family that if you get anything below a C at all, you're grounded... my sister has been grounded practically all of her life, and now she's a free girl!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!

Depends on the child, class, circumstances but I'll accept a C sometimes. May not get grounded but gets a good talking too..

she lucky to have sister like you to support her. Now that she outta the klink, what is going to do with all that time?? :joy:
The only grounding in our house is if she just doesn't try. Amazing how quickly they change their tune after a good talkin' to.
Surfer11.........I wouldn't have never been able to leave the house

Honor roll is a big deal!! My son was one single paper away. He only had 6 assignments in science, one paper was a D so his overall grade was a C. But his grades were usually pretty lame before. So now, every day I ask him, "Did you make honor roll today?"
I make a really big deal out of it cause if his grades were bad, I woulda made a big deal about that.
Keep bringing it up to your sis. Remind her often how excited you are that she did so good. That feeling of getting all that positive attention should last a long time!! I don't know your sis, but I am proud of her also!! And anybody else who made honor roll and the work doesn't come easy for them!

Yay 4 ur sis Jenn!! I wish my parents would actually care if I made the honor roll! If I wasnt self motivated, I would be scared to look at my report card! But as of right now, I have straight A's! Your sister must really like being "free" for once!

Hey partner, watch it. U calling middle schoolers stupid? I am in middle school! 7th grade! Honor roll is just when u have all A's or B's and it is basically just a reward for all your hard work. You dont get a "reward", but to me having your name listed on the honor roll is good enough! Obviously, since u dont know what it is, your not on it.
Sorry, u left me no choice, I had to do that.

it's funny, the grades don't ever actually MATTER, in the long run - but the RESPONSE to them is what can make or break a depressed teen.
AWESOME that you're so supportive, and AWESOME that your sister can feel good about herself b/c mom and dad aren't dogging at her anymore!

It's not WHAT your learning, it's THAT you are learning. Learning how to remember, learning how to study, how to ask question, learning how to complete assignments. Those are all beneficial in life, and school is giving you practice to hone THOSE skills. My schools sucked, my hubby's were awesome. His studyng skills are incredible!! His work ethic is awesome. I can't study anything I am not into for myself...

wow, i definately didn't expect all of the comments... I am really proud of her!!! My parents are taking her out to dinner to celebrate (but that doesn't really mean much, because they took my other sister out to dinner to celebrate that she wasn't going to jail for aiding in the delinquency of a minor...) but still, it's great!!!
And adam, you'd better keep them straight A's up, or i'll hunt you down and... wait, didn't we have this conversation already???
My cousin got all A's and B's, and she got a full ride to a $34,000 a year college... she actually got more than a full ride... she's getting paid to go to college!!! You'd better do the same thing, Adam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you know, now that i think of it, i just assume that everyone on here is a 35-year-old male... weird, huh? especially b/c i'm a girl... you'd think that i would think that everyone's a girl... ugh, i don't make any sense to me...
