I like the Domincan cigars but I have other favorites. My choices for best cigars are
Cohiba Red Dot (Dominican)
Partaga Blacks
Monte Cristo
CAO Brazilia
I'm a Maduro man also. I have a humidor with about 80 cigars in it right now.

I just got a humidor.... Not sure how to use it yet but I'll be going to the tabacco shop soon to ask what things are and how to keep my cigars fresh. How long can they stay fresh in a humidor? When placing them in there do you take off the rappers or take them out of its caseing?

I leave mine in the wrapper even in a humidor. Humidor will keep your cigars fresh. If you plan on aging your cigars take the wrappers off. In a well maintained humidor cigars can age pretty much indefinatley. At as they age, the flavor becomes better. One of my favorite cigars is H.Upmann Vintage Cameroon 2000. It's a milder smoke, but the leaf is awesome! For a more robust and heavier smoke I like La Gloria Cubana serie R. My "everyday" smoke is the candella igauna, once again a milder smoke, but I prefer milder over heavy most of the time.

Shogun,
Make sure you bring the Remmy Martin VSOP when you come.
I take the wrappers off and about once a month, I rotate my cigars bring the bottom ones to the top. You want to keep your humidor anywhere between 65% and 75% humidity. They say 70% is ideal but I like closer to 65%. You want to get a good quality cutter also. I use both a punch and a guillotine depending on the type of cigar I'm smoking. Also, get a torch lighter. Doesn't have to be expensive.
Now some people might disagree, but if a cigar goes out for more than 5 minutes, it's done. A relighted cigar that has gone cold will not taste the same.
Also, most humidity guages that come with humidors are not that accurate. I went to radio shack and purchased a wireless temperature and humistat. I keep the sensor in the humidor and the display on my dresser so I can see the humidity and temp at a glance.
If you want some great cigar deals, go to Thompsons or JRCigars online. Ideally, pick up some of the sampler packs of quality cigars to get an idea of what you like, Dominican, Honduran, Nicoraguan, etc and the guage (size around) that you like. Every cigar mentioned above is a qualilty cigar so you won't go wrong with them.

Yes, the cuban Cohiba is among the finest I've ever smoked also. I just left them out because you can't get them legally. However, many of the Cuban Cohiba's you get are counterfeit. My friend's buddy sends him a box of Cohibas everytime he sails through the panama canal. Hard to get a good deal also because Cuba is actually selling them for top dollar now. A box of 20 will run up to $450.00

Cohiba is way to strong imo. Since Castro quit smoking he has begun to sell tobacco seeds to other Caribbean nations esp. Honduras and Dominican Republic. It's mostly about the roll these days. My favorite cuban is the Romeo hands down.

You think a Cohiba is strong. Ever smoked a Pirate's Gold? You can almost chew the smoke. I like them but only on rare occassions and very full stomach.

WOW, what a suprize. Other cigar smokers.
Well my favs are A Fuente 858, Monti Cristo, Excaliber1066.
If you are just starting out with the cigars, be carefull not to get fooled into Cubans. They are illegal in the US and some people will try to sell you one thats not real.
P.S. I smoke more of a natual cigar instead of green or dark.

We have gone down to Mexico a couple of times and was able to bring a few Romeo's back. But so far those ones are the best but again I have only had a few of them. I did look and order a few catalogs from Jr Cigars.com and Thompsoncigars.com as well. I saw that they had a variety packs so I'll most likely start with those. I would like to try some of the flavored ones like Blackberry and hunny w/ Rum. But I guess it will be a good start on finding what you like any ways.
Is it true that the older the cigars get the better they are (like said above)?
