:needhelp: :needhelp: Ok, i bought my tank 4 1/2 months ago and since then i have had nothing but problems. i added my first four dasels a week after i mixed the water and had evrything set up. another week went by and i noticed that all my fish were doing good so i got a maroon clown and a rose bta because they would make a cool addition to the tank. Then my dad surprised me by bringing home a small koran angelfish on the forth week that i had it set up for. from that moment on, all hell broke loose. One of the damsels died, no big deal, maybe it was sick when i bought it or something like that but then 2 more damsels got ich and died. Then i got conserned about my 40$ koran. I got my water checked and evrything was perfect, PH 8.3 amonia 0 nitrate 0 nitrite 0 and the salinity 1.024. I started doing 2 20% water chanches weekly and the white spots disapeared on my angel. I thought i fixed the problem so i decided to get more fish and i got a blue hippo tang about the size of a baseball and he was one cool fish. three days later the koran died. then i started to do the extreme water changes once more but every day the tang got worse. it died shortly after. I have gone through about 200$ in fish, my rose bta use to have 4inch tenticles and now there about half of a inch, My condy anemone disapeared on me,and i only have one living fish in my tank. the only thing that is doing well is my tube anemone and he is getting big.
all i am asking for is a little advice to keep my fish alive for more than two weeks. please give me some advice!! i have looking at all these peoples thread and they say that they have had fish for years, im thinking to myself, is that posible?
In conclusion, give me anything that will HELP

Well first off, a Koran angel and a blue tang are to big for a 55 gallon tank. I would remove the damsal from your tank because they will limit what you buy because they are very mean and territorial fish. As for the Rose and the condy they need srtonge lighting...what kind of lighting do you have ? I would let your tank to fishless for 4 weeks at least to let the ich go though its live cycle and die off. Then after that take it slow. Add one fish after the the take has been fishless for 4 weeks. Then a couple weeks after that if hes doing ok go from there. I would read and then ask questions then read again about your fish you want .
I hope I was any help to you corbin

I can tell you right off the bat that you rushed things too fast. You need to have lots of patience in this hobby. Most people suggest waiting a good year or so before adding anemones to an aquarium. You need extemely good water quality, as well as strong lighting. What kind of lighting are you running? Also, what else are you running in your tank?(power heads, filters, skimmers, etc.). Do you have a cleanup crew?
You can keep fish healthy yourself for years just like these other hobbyist have done, I think you just rushed things too fast. Dont add anything new to your tank for a while. Leave whatever fish are in there, and dont add anything new.
If you dont think the angelfish will make it, take it back to the LFS, until your tank gets settled down.

You may want to post your location and maybe somebody can hold your anename until you get the proper lighting. Don't worry about what has happened with your tank. You as with most of us started out with really bad advice from really bad pet stores that have to make money at our expense. Now that you have found this site with 101 different opinions ( don't put in Macro algae no matter what anyone person says ) you should post a very short and to the point thread that describes all aspects of your system and your maintenance. Then ask what people would reccomend.
Hope this helps and good luck

I would also recomend that you leave your tank fishless for at least 4 weeks to get rid of ick. Whatever you do do not add anything like Ick-away or something like it these things contain copper and it will be absorbed by your live rock and kill inverts very quickly. Some would say it is impossible to totally get out once it is in there. Also I would try to find the condy that disapeared. If you leave it in there and it is dead thats not good at all. When anomones die they release all kinds of nasty stuff. If you find him and he is one big dead pile on the bottom do not try to scupe him out. Get a hose and siphone him out. If you try to scupe it up it will fall apart and release all kinds of toxins in the water. Anemones do require very good lighting and stable water. Just let your tank set, let the ick die because without fish the ick cannot live. Then start adding things slowly.
