In the market for new skimmer

Well I plan on getting a skimmer to replace the seaclone that I can not get to work at all for the life of me. I'd like to spend the $ on more lights for better selection of corals, but figure that a good skimmer should come first. So I've been reading and researching and have narrowed it down a little. I'm looking at hang on types for < $300. I'm leaning towards either the Remora Pro or Red Sea Berlin since I have read mostly good about them both. Any other suggestions to look into? What are your thoughts on these two? I'm hoping to have better luck picking one out this time around. One other big concern of mine is one that puts very few to no bubbles into the tank. That's my one and only complaint with the Emp. 400 filter I got. Don't like the micro bubbles floating around. Personal preference maybe. Thanks.

What type of system are you running , reef or FO? What size tank is this? I think these are necessary questions to answer yours. I personally dont like protein skimmers on reef tanks because it tends to remove too much from the water which could be beneficial for corals, sponges and other things we tend to keep. Not to mention reef tanks are usually a smaller bio-load than FO's. If this is an FO tank I completely agree that a skimmer is needed, I am going to buy one today for my FO tank as well. It is made my Aqua Clear Aquatics.

I like the CPR(creative plastics research) line.I have the SR9 model. It is a monster skimmer, and does such a good job, that i am now only running it a week or so every month. These skimmers need to be hooked into a sump though.

TangMan99 and I are running Berlin Turbo Hang-On Skimmers. They do great. Need a bust restarting when power goes out but it is being fixed. I get a collection cup full of gunk a week out of mine and I run an Emperor 400 on the other side of my tank. They Berlin side of the tank is a lot cleaner and has less debris floating around.

I've got a remora pro on my 90 aggressive and it works wonders. No adjusting at all, just plug it in and let it do it's magic. Works for me.

Almost impossible to have no bubbles with the Emperor 280 or 400 pumps but they are not a major concern (and I run 11 of them on all but 4 of my tanks). I use the Prism skimmer on my reef and love the thing. For its cost (if you know where to buy them about 70 bucks) they are great for a hang on.
