In wall tank revamp

I am thinking of revamping a 200 gal rectangle tank built into a wall. It has a sectional metal lid with each section able to slide in a track individually. I would like to take the metal out and make a new hood to hold the lights and for easier access. What would be the best material to do this? Would it be plywood coated with epoxy or would plexiglass be the best way to go? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Sealed plywood would work fine.I think plexiglass may be too flimsey,and cause problems.Especially if your lights melt or warp it...
