So, if it's not incorporated with the state (Secretary of State in Texas??), then it is just a sole proprietor even though both of you are on it. I believe you would need Schedule C for the profit/loss. Is that what you are looking for? http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/...187696,00.html
When I did side work I used schedule C. I think unless you get into having employees and stuff that is right but I think it might be worth a call to the IRS.
