increase water movement

I'm only running an AquaC remora pro with a mag 3 on my 75 gallon tank with live rock. Any recommendations to increase water movement?

I've got the same skimmer with a maxi jet 1200, in addition to a emperor filter, 280 I think with out the carbons or bio wheel, and two maxi jet 900s. I've been thinking about adding a wave machine. All that on my 37gal. I so want a 75gal.

what about those wave makers? I was also looking at the SCWQ device. Decisions decisions. I guess I'll just get a couple of powerheads. Maybe down the road I'll connect them to a wave maker.

I have a closed loop scwd, works very well and is very discreet. If your looking for powerheads I have had great luck with the seio's, IMHO much nicer high flow w/o the harsh beam of the maxi's. Course if money is no concern can't beat tunze.

forgive me for asking.. but when you closed loop do you mean an external water pump in your sump pumping water to the SQWD?

no its a totally seperate setup. the closed loop pulls water from my overflow and is pumped out the sides of the tank. If you do a search on closed loop scwd a few pics should come up.

not much of a picture but the only one I got at work. It lets you see what actually goes in the tank instead of powerheads. BTW you can also see my seio's, I have them facing 45 degrees from each other.

What external pump should you use? I have a 75 gallon tank. I read that Mags shouldn't be used externally for salt water.

my closed loop uses an Iwaki pump.

Thanks for the idea msd2, but whats sticking up from your intake pipe?

I think your talking about the part that is directly behind the uptake, its how you prime the system for the first time. Once you prime it you can shut it off and on as u want w/o needing to reprime it. Only have to reprime if you tear it down for cleaning, etc.
If you look on the very top its a screw on cap.

The size of the pump depends on how much flow you want to push through it. I am pretty happy with about 700gph.
BTW you can get gray piping for the parts in the tank (I ended up using it) for a slightly more hidden effect.

I used an Iwaki cause I had one layin around. I have heard reports of mag's leaking though so might be a bit cautious when used as an external. I like quiet one pumps also, but have not used them externally yet.
