Hey Guys, I was just wondering if you could tell me what species of anemone and Coral these are, and if they are in good health, as well as how big they can get. Thanks for your time.

The anemone looks fine to me. But if that is a finger leather then it looks a little wrinkled and the polyps are not extended. Just my opinion but I am no expert.

Thank you but I knew that. I was asking Eel Guy if the coral in the picture was soft or hard.

how long have these been in your tank when you took the pics? also were these taken under your "full lighting"

I b elieve that it is a soft coral, They were taken under two 12000k daylights and two actinics, but I think somthing with my SLR made it look darker. The anemone has been in for about 2 weeks, the coral has been in for about a week, but jsut within the past hour or two he has complete popped out these little things all over his body

I will go ahead and post a picture I just now took of him. I do have a question though, with corals, are you supposed to turn the lights all the way off at night like pitch black or leave the LED's on?

Its polyps are fully retracted. Not a problem though, they should be out in the next few days if they aren't already coming out.

Yes corals need a light cycle so you should have a "night" stage in the cycle. If you dont want the tank to be pitch black you could get some moon lights.

its looks fine to me, many finger leathers have very stubbly polyps, unlike the long flowing flowers found on toadstools.

I am curious though, if down the line I want to Frag my Finger Coral, if I just Cut off one of the polyps and glue it to a rock or is it more difficult?

Nope not a polyp, one of the arms - branches. Then rubber band loosely, super glue gel, or a pc. of netting to hold it on a small chunk or rock. it will attach in a week or so.

yea you want to cut off at least a one inch branch with a clean and sharp cutting instrument. i have dedicated scissors, but scalpels / razors are ok too if you can keep them from moving. this will prevent infection. the leather will look bad for a week, but will recover. be aware however that some leathers like yellow fiji leathers have a terrible track record for fragging, and usually both the parent and daughter being fragged die. i think devil hands do not fall into that category tho. Rubber bands i dont recommend because they usually cut right through the coral. look into superglue gel and toothpicks.
