Info on setting up a quarantine tank

Looking to set up a safe house quarantine tank for new incoming fish and for any that become ill or injuried. Thinking about a 8 or 10 gallon but don't know what to do about filteration and light any suggestion.

The QT can be rather barebones. Just need a heater, a hang on back power filter, and something sterile for fish to hide in, like PVC pipe segments. Light can be minimal, fish aren't photosynthetic, they just need some daytime hour cues. Just keep it cycled by either using the old water from main tank water changes, or "feeding" the tank occasionally.
