Hello,
Quick background on the aquarium. It has been running since 2006. 125 FOWLR. For the majority of this time it has only been housing a large stars and stripes puffer. I had an emperor angel with him for several years. I had planned on getting a larger aquarium but have since held off. As a result, I donated the angel to my local aquarium. He/she is now housed in a 2,000+ gallon aquarium!
This leads me to my next question - tank mates ?
I was always worried my puffer would be aggressive towards smaller fish. However, I had the angel since he/she was a juvenile (ordered from this site). The puffer never bothered the angel. I have also introduced several hermits and snails. It has been a year and the puffer hasn't shown any interest in them.
Any suggestions on small tank mates for this 125? I'm not looking to overstock my aquarium, but at the same time would like a few small fish to help make the tank have a little more life.
Also, would adding 25-50 hermits help battle nitrates? I've noticed great deals on hermits through this site.
