Instant Cycle

Hey Gang,
I have a cycled 60 gal at home and i am trying to set up my third tank. The new tank is about 10 gal. If i get a bag of live sand from a LFS and the water from my cycled tank. Would the new tank be instantly cycle? Or will it still have to go through the cycling process (4-6 Weeks)?? Your comments will be greatly appreciated...

I usually set up a quick quarantine tank by using a ten gal with a couple of lbs. of crushed coral and a powerhead with a prefilter sponge from the main tank. I never had a problem with ammonia. Don't know about long term though. Never had it running more than 3-4 weeks. Did a water change (10%) weekly also.
