I believe your tank and equipment would be insured as contents. However, your creatures (rocks, sand) are not insurable. Also, your tank would be cover for same perils, (fire, lightning) as your personal contents are covered for and would be subject to a deductible. Breakage would not be covered. I don't think a tank could be scheduled like jewelry, fine arts or guns... Hope this helps!!

I know. I tried to get insurance on my 75 and the only thing that they will insure is the hardware like lights, tank, stand, lid. But all live stock and LR, LS is not covered. Why? Because it is impossible to keep an update of what live stock you have in a big tank. Plus people are always buying new items for the tank. So to answer your question is 1/2 of your tank will be covered. OH I found this weird but they also will not cover pumps. Not quite sure why but thats what our insurance agent has told us.

All is insurable except the live stock and pumps, filters, etc. They are a mechanical product that breaks down, are replaced often, or are not properly maintanied, therefore uninsurable.
(uncle is an insurance agent lol)
I happened to have just asked him about the 90 gallon tank I am buying.
Home owners or renters insurance will cover the rest.
