intake cover

I had a real disaster this weekend! I finally broke down and bought my clown an Anemone. I found a large (4.5 inch) bubble anemone and placed in on top of one of my lr in the center of the tank. It only took about an hour and the clown fish was in 7th heaven! The anemone appeared to really like the lighting and the clown. The next morning it was terrible. The anemone decided to move off the rock. I have two 304 fluval canister filters, both intakes are capped with a grid type cover with about an 1/8 of a inch separation between the slats of plastic.
I have thought about wrapping a type of foam around the caps such as the foam that is around the intake on my powerhead.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Does anyone have anemone's with this type of filtration and what do you do for proctection?
Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Carl
