interested in starting a tank

I just started researching saltwater tanks a few days ago. Since I'm allergic to almost all mammals and reptiles, I thought this would be one type of animal I could stand. I haven't found alot of good websites or books that are good for beginners, besides this one. I'm mainly looking for someplace that I could get a list of all the materials I would need, and someplace where I could check on the prices of these materials. I'd like to set up a medium sized tank, and probably a reef tank. If someone could help me, I'd sure appreciate it.

Don't be insulted by the title, but "Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies" is a great book. (I have a copy!) It covers everything you'd want to know or be embarrassed to ask. This site is great, too!

I couldn't find the book you were talking about, Veskas, but I did find 3 that I think will be helpful. They are "Your First Marine Aquarium : Everything About Setting Up a Marine Aquarium, Aquarium Conditions and Maintanence, and Selecting Fish and Invertebrates", "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Setting Up a Saltwater Aquarium", and "The New Marine Aquarium : Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking Guide". Some of the people I've talked to said they were really good for beginners. I haven't had a chance to read any of them yet, but I should soon. I'll let you guys know of I have any more questions. Thanks!

I just went to the website that Dennis gave, and I was surprised at the amount of information there. It'll take me a couple days to wade thru it all. Thanks!

Adney, all good suggestions everyone gave you. Just get as large a tank as you can afford both money and space wise. A larger tank, once established, is easier to maintain and is alot more forgiving. AND, the bigger the tank the more beautiful fish you can take care of!!
