I just read an article in the annual marine fish and reef magazine. The article is named "Fish Friendly Aquariums". They stated that a deep sand bed is bad for the fishes because it limits the room they have to swim. They also stated that piling rock up to the top of the tank is bad for the fishes. They also suggested to feed as many times as you can in one day of course small amounts, but feed as often as you can. I was just wandering had anyone else read this article. I just wanted to know what some other people thought about it.

What's the name of the magazine? Sounds like crap to me because 3" is not a whole lot of room, but I do agree that some people go way over board with the rock, but on the same token watch any movie(educational) on the coral sees and you will see how packed it is there. I guess it all depends on if you are keeping reef fishes, or open water fishes(sharks etc...)

Marine fishes and reef magazine. I think is it just an annual issue that is dedicated to reef tanks. The regular magazine is aquariam fish or something like that. It is a very good magazine they had a great article on alk and calcium. It was a good article about the "Fish Friendly Aquarium" also. They said most hobbyist build there tanks more for corals than for the fish. Also, in the article they stated that most hobbiest over stock their tanks and put fishes that are not compatible with one another. One part of the article that I remember is about the madarin goby they stated that it should not be kept in an aquarium that has a wrasse in it because the wrasse is such an active fish where the madarin is laid back leading to stress on both of the fish. Don't quote me because i just summarized what I read. Overall I thought it was a good magazine.

In my opinion I do not agree. Most fish like hiding in rocks.
I would not take this advice too seriously.

It didnt say all fish it said most of the fishes n their normal environments like tangs and angels swim in the open waters, but fish like gobies and blennies liked the actual reefs... One other part of the article I thought was interesting is they said fish would live longer on average with the temperatures in the 70's not the 80's...
