Intruder

Ive got an earthworm-like worm in my reef tank. emerges from holes in live rock from time to time and does not seem to be nocturnal. any ideas what it is? does not seem to be particularly harmfull but I would like to know what it is.

Is it smooth like an earthworm, or does it have a lot of hair looking bristles? If smooth, possibly a peanut worm. Check out the hitchhikers posting in the New Hobbyist Section.

I have not read where they are a serious problem. I have one, but have only seen him maybe 2-3 times, and this was just a random trip by the tank in the middle of the night with a flashlight. They are pretty neat, but usually dash back in the rocks once the light hits them. Your's could be something different, especially if he's coming out during the day, so a pic would be helpful in identifying.

Most of the time you have nothing to be worried about, as long as you don't see it on your coral I wouldn't worry about it.
