Invert Packages...Combination ?

I have a simple questions that I'd like some opinions on...I have heard and seen many different answers to invert critters that seem to be included in differed invert packages. Sally's, CBS, Arrowcrab, Emerald just to name a few. Some have problems with these, others have them co-existing in their tanks without major problems. My question is why do invert packages have these included if they might not co-exist in certain set-ups? I have been told from different LFS, which operate and run successful reef setups, that if you like something and can meet the lighting and water requirements to try it. If it causes no problems great, if it does, just remove it. Is this a common to add to your tank something that might destroy your prize item, and them decide if it's right for your situation? I'd love to have a CBS, Arrowcrab, etc... but don't want to lose anything in the process of having these. I have thought at one time to do like the LFS do, set up several small tanks connected together to house my exiles from the main tank. I'd appreciate some input. Also I do know that no matter how much planning we do, that we will have loses caused by incompatibles, but I'd like to prevent it a much as possible.

Pretty good question really. I've wondered this as well.
Most would agree there are certain fish/inverts that definately do not belong in the same tank for obvious reasons - one being a food source for the other.
But when you read or hear someone say a creature is "reefsafe" or "compatible with" I think it means GENERALLY they are. But ya never know for sure. The tank conditions, water quality, adaquate amounts of proper food, number of creatures competing for space and even the individual temperment of the invert all play a part.
I suppose sometimes it's just something you need to study and if looks good - try it.

 I'm confused. It's being suggested that I need an emerald crab to control bubble algae, but later may cause problems & that my camelbacks will cause me problems when I start getting my corals. Why are they included in invert packages then?
