Well, a clean-up crew will help get the waste off your rock and sand. That will ultimately help remove nitrates. Macroalgae helps remove nitrates.

How often do you do water changes?
Are you running a deep sand bed? If not, do you clean the sand when you do water changes with a gravel vacuum?
How much live rock do you have?
How much flow (gallons per hour) do you have including your filter and powerheads?
