I just recently got my first Softie Coral!!!
i was really happy but the lfs told me to dose my tank w/ iodine but otherwise it basically strived on light , it's mainly photosynthetic.. but i'm just curious how fast the coral will use up the iodine? they said it was very fast to spread and they were right i brought it home 2 days ago and it already grew a $0.25 inch i will post a picture tomorrow somethime but i just was curous about the iodine..

if your doing regular water changes with a quality salt then no real need to worry. But on the other hand i do dose a half cap of iodine once a week, for all my hermits and other inhabitants that need I2. Always test before dosing any additive. any reading between 0.03-0.06 is good levels.
