iPhone OS or Android OS?

I have always been a big Apple fan, and have always dreamed of an iPhone on Verizon. I've been a loyal verizon customer for over 7 years and I'm now considered "VIP" which means I can get 2-year contract pricing every 1 year which is nice. I also get incentives on accessories. I once dropped my blackberry in the toilet after only two months of having it and they gave me a new one for free.
Verizon has treated me very well.
Now I'm hearing these rumors about the iPhone possibly coming out on Verizon's network, which has me nearly pooping myself with joy.

At the same time, the Android OS has really made a solid stance in the mobile world. Most of my friends have a phone running DROID and it looks really awesome. The best part is that it runs flash and is highly customizable, as opposed to the iPhone OS which is basically WYSIWYG.
My contract renewal will happen in July, but I know if I went in there today they'd let me get a new phone with the 2-year pricing. I am just really debating - IF IF IF IF indeed the iPhone IS coming to verizon, is it worth waiting for, or is the Android becoming a more superior OS than iPhone to the point that it won't matter whether or not iPhone is coming to Verizon, I should just get a droid anyway?
If I did get a droid, it would be the HTC Incredible. I don't want the Evo, primarily because it is exclusive to Sprint.
SO, what should I do?

6 months after the iPhone was introduced there were rumors of it coming out on Verizons network - not true. Then there were rumors about the 3G iPhone being on verizons network because it is an all new iPhone product outside the almighty apple/AT&T agreement, dozens of rumors over the last 3 years. And now the iPad has a 3G data plan only with AT&T. IMO Apple is too far into bed with AT&T to move to verizon. It's just not going to happen. Ive waited 3 years, and you know what I've concluded? My dog will grow back his amputated leg before apple signs a deal for the iPhone to be on the verizon network. I vote android.

I dont know about who will go with what service providers. I do agree that Apple and AT&T have a very strong business relationship and if it werent for that then AT&T would probably struggle in the mobile world. So with that said I wouldnt look for that to change. Now I have been way behind on the whole get the IPOD Touch or IPHONE but my wife bought me the IPOD Touch for Christmas and I can tell you it may be limited as to what you can add to it but what it does run it runs very well. I would say to test them both then decide.

I was with Verizon for the past 12 years, and had seriously considered the Droid, and my daugher talked me into looking at the IPhone, only because she wanted one....Maybe it was my local stores that didn't know crap about their products. Needless to say I did switch and don't regret it, but feel Verizon has way better coverage than AT&T. Stay Verizon.......I don't honestly see the IPhone/Apple making the jump to Verizon though.....

I have a family member that works for Apple and another that works for Verizon, and I can say this with 100% confidence:
VERIZON WILL NEVER HAVE THE APPLE iPhone. They wanted too much control over the phone and Apple told them to shove it. It will never happen. The only way to have an iPhone on the Verizon network is to buy an unlocked phone, which just isn't worth the money or aggravation because half the stuff doesn't work properly.
I own the HTC Droid and my husband has the original Motorola Droid, both of us could not be happier with our phones. Verizon, as much as their customer service blows, is a better company with better coverage, especially where I live. Besides, with Verizon, you can try the phone for a month, if you don't like it, return the thing. Depending how technology savvy you are, it might take you that long just to learn how to use all the features on the phone.

The last thing I read, there was less than a 10% chance that Jobs will announce a Verizon IPhone tomorrow. If something does happen with Verizon, I don't think it will happen until the first part of 2011. I still use my original 2G IPhone, and it does eveything I want it to do. The touch screen keyboard sucks, and if I text a message, I can only do it at one character at a time (my two daughters shake their heads everytime they see me do it). I've heard rumors that this new 4G IPhone that's will be announced tomorrow will cost between $400 - $500, even with the two year plan! Sorry, but I can go buy a cheap laptop for that price.
Sprint has the new EVO that's out that's giving the IPhone a run for its money. The only problem I see with this new Droid OS, is the availability of apps, as compared to the IPhone apps. The Apple Store has four times as many apps, and so many free one's that I rarely have to buy an app I want to mess with. I got on Sprint's site, and was comparing "Apples to Apples" (no pun intended) of the apps available. I can get a Weather Channel app on my IPhone for free, Sprint offers a Weather Channel app WITH A MONTHLY RECURRING FEE of $2.99. Sprint/Android also doesn't have an app for my bank account, my alarm system, or my insurance company. So unless they get their apps up to speed, I'm hanging onto my old IPhone 2G.

I can use my bank account just find with my droid, as well as car insurance, etc. They all basically run as little mini computers. There are tons of apps for all the phones out at this point, you just have to know where to look. I have tons of apps.
It really comes down to what service provider you want to go with. Verizon is by far the best in my area even though their customer service leaves something to be desired, so for me, I didn't have a choice. That being said, I love my Droid.

The new Sprint EVO is capable of running Flash, pretty big IMO. Surfing the web is identical to using a computer, instead of being deferred to the crappy "mobile" versions of websites. The speed of 4G vs. 3G is impressive as well. I'm sure the 4G iPhone will be Flash capable as well. But if I was in the market for a new phone, you can stick with Verizon if you want, but it would either be AT&T or Sprint....

At this point it is not. Personally I broke down and bought the eyephone. I like it overall. But it has some major issues that drive me nuts. That being said, at least my keyboard works... Better than my old phone.
