ipod shuffle

So, I've been looking for the 1G ipod shuffle, but apparently its nowhere to be found. Even the apple store told me they won't have them by Christmas. I ended up getting the 512 so there will at least be something under the tree for my gf and she can return it for the bigger one after the holidays.
My question is this: I was told that one of the reasons that they are so hard to find is because apple is going to come out with a new (smaller) 1G shuffle in January or February. Does anyone know anything about this?

I know i bought one for my G/F and they had plenty of the 1g and the 512. But if you really think about it who want something that can hold 200 songs and you have to go threw it one song at a time. I went with the 512 because if she puts say 3 CD's on the each CD has 20 songs. thats 60 songs-what if she wants to listen to CD-2? I dont think she would want to have to scroll threw it one song at a time with out haveing a screen to see what song is what nor being able to jump CD's
I think its cool if you put some favorite songs on and keep it under the 50 song mark. Anything higher then that it looks like its going to become a pain.

Save your money and buy something non-apple. Besides who wants an MP3 player that they cannot even pick the song they listen to, unless you only put 1 song on it. Other brands cost 1/4 of the ipod and do the same thing!

Mattyoh - thats a great argument for the smaller one. I hadn't thought of it that way. I've already got the 512 all wrapped and ready to go. I'll give my girfriend your argument for the 512 and if she still wants to return it, so be it. Its actually only 25$ extra for the bigger one, but I think you're right - more songs might actually make it more of a hassle. Thanks guys.
