Mr. Tang said that he would prefer Ir instead of grocery shrimp to start the cycle. First, what is Ir. Second, i need your opinions whether you belive you would think that Ir or shrimp would work better.

i think he means LR.. it is all up to you. you can use damsels, LR/LS, shrimp.

Live Rock is proably not a bads way to cycle your tank. But remember since you are putting a rock that's about $6.00 a pound into your unestablished tank you will lose some of the animals in the rock. I agree with this technique - it's what I use, I'm just letting you know there will be some die off on the rock.

i was impatient and used 3 damsels to cycle my 33 gallon. it worked well. i do recommed getting yourself some live rock though, it is a great introduction into your tank. like said above, it is expensive @ around 6 dollars a pound and they say 1-1.5 lbs. per gallon is sufficent
