Has anyone heard what happened to the pow in Iraq who's deadline passes today?
I know that the coalition forces have agreed to a cease-fire agreement for the next 12 hours, than a withdraw from the city, if that is kept. But no ones mentioning how Thomas Hamill is going to be handled since his deadline is up first.

thanks for the info...I have been out of the loop as far as news this week.
Hmm...this is all getting too crazy for us. This situation amazes me. How can the same country who want the same thing all be destroying and undermining everything that is trying to be done?
Even it wasn't the US in there, they would still continue to want to live in chaos.

If you're referring to the same country wanting the same thing, being Iraq... its because its not the same people or country. Actually distinct ethnic groups/countries who were opposed to eachother, only brought together by an international decree, and than held captive by Saddam. The Sheik leader of the uprising in the Suni triangle was actually banished from the country while it was under Saddams control. He's since gone back and is trying to force his will upon the rest of the country. Giving people in that area, who prospered by being ultra-loyal to Saddam, an excuse and dogma to fight for. As they have suffered since the coalitions liberation, while in other areas of Iraq and to the other ethnic people were liberated and are happier.
I completely agree with you that if the US wasn't there, those people would still be causing chaos. As they're trying to cast their will on the surrounding regions. Thats whats so absurd about handing control over to the Iraqi congress now, they don't currently have the capability to protect against this. Nor does the UN, do people not remember how the UN commanders all over in Kosovo, Sebrenca, and Rawanda actually handed off innocent children to groups bent on genocide because they were afraid to risk the UN soldiers lives defending them. No probally not... than again, most news outlets aren't saying that these many of these "civilian contractors" are actually mercenaries who chose to be paid to put their lives at risk....

Now that explanation answered a lot of my questions as to what in hell is really going on over there right now. Why can't damn CNN speak in plain English like that.

Don't know what happened about the deadline, but at this point I wish we would just pull out... It is getting out of hand... Unless we are willing to protect all of the people willing to go over and help then kidnappings and murdering will continue. The perpetrators of such crimes should be punished swiftly and with a strong hand. Immediate executions would be nice, but thats not the American way.
Either we need to send more troops and take over more areas or pack up and go home. I agree with previous comments, that what these people want is bloodshed and chaos. Any reason to pick up a gun and kill someone and they do it. From this point forward it will never end, they will kill each other until there is only one person left standing. They are no different from Hitler. Nothing like being murdered for religious reasons...
I don't pretend to understand the mentality of the murders who would rather kill one another than to live in peace and harmony. They kill under the cloak of some God and in a misinterpretation of ancient scripts. Its funny how civilized worlds will interpret the Bible such that everything is supposed to be good, while the murderers interpret their ancient scrolls as instructions to kill... It's all in the interpretation, and in the mind of who is doing it. If they want death and destruction then thats what they get out of it.
<Insert picture of me shaking my head in disbelief>
When will it all stop?
When will the palesteinians (sp?) and Israelis finally realize that as each day passes they only dimish their capacity to grow. That the only benefit they realize is the death of yet another loved one? Nothing else changes, does it? Only the death toll.
When will the Iraqi people finally say, "Enough is enough" and take control of their own destiny and get off there butt? I could never even begin to imagine the amount of sheer force the American people would put up against any domestic invasion by outside forces. I don't believe there would be too many Americans who would not bear arms to protect what is ours. To protect and to preserve freedom. Yet given the chance people in Iraq choose to kill those that would help them or help another human being.
Why is it the Americans seem to be the only people willing to fight and die for freedom of oppression?
Why do they do it for the sake of those that don't want it?
Why do we continue to pump billions of our tax dollars overseas to people who would rather see every American shot, hung or burned to death? For what, a stable global world economy?
Don't get me wrong I fully support the troops and the president. Whether I believe one way or the other I support my country and my people, white, black, republican or democrat, rich or poor, I support any American except for those that denounce or decry this country or burn it's flag. Please don't tell me the Right to Free Speech allows you to burn the flag. I don't care nor do I believe it.
Can't we just all get along?
