Is 5gal water changes per week too small?

I have a 55gal fish only tank. I run a canister filter on this tank no sump and a wave maker. fish are healthy and all but when I watch videos of people doing water changes they are pretty much like half of the tank per week. I do mine weekly as well but only 5gal since I have to manually carry the water and it's back breaking work. Just wondering am I doing too little of a water change for this large of a tank and if so how much should I do? I will eventually switch things up in the future water changes for me atm is hell but I want a healthier tank

Hi,

I do water changes and I also keep macroalgae...so when my health isn't so good, I can get away with not doing water changes. I gotta tell ya Beaslbob... my tank looks lots happier when I can do water changes.

5g is fine, when it comes to saltwater, a 55g is a very small tank. I know and understand your back pain. Get a smaller bucket, or put less water in it, and save yourself some pain. You could do a little 1g a day water change... that won't hurt a bit....and your tank will look awesome!
