Is a 4:1 ratio on a RO/Di normal

I just got a 100gpd 5 stage RO/DI unit. Its says it has a 4:1 ratio. For every gallon I make I lose 4 gallons. Is that normal? Anything I can do to decrease those ratios? That seems a lot

I added a second RO membrane and I think I'm down to around 1 1/4:1 ratio. I also have good water pressure which helps. You could try adding a booster pump if you have low pressure.

I have seen these water saver kits where it adds another membrane but it says its for a 75gpd kit. I have a 100gpd kit. Will it work? Someone also said that the 75gpd ro/di system produce less waste anyways and that I should replace the membrane on my filter system down to a 75 and then add the water saver kit. If that was true then I should of just ordered the 75gpd kit.
