Is a sump/fuge better than other system listed?

I wanted to know if any body knows if a sump/fuge is better than the following
FLUVAL FX5 FILTER (filters 1100 gallons per hour)
RENA FILSTAR XP3

I would say fuge is better. Cannisters can be a pain to keep clean. Once you get a fuge you won't regret it...
