Is garlic for real?

Is garlic really effective in fighting disease? Can anyone point to any research? Thanks. Scott

We're not allowed to post links here, but here's a summary of human research on Garlic:
It's an antibiotic.
It reduces blood cholesterol.
It reduces blood clotting. (This one not good for bleeding injuries or surgeries.)
It reduces blood pressure.
It's a decongestant and expectorant.
It may damage cancer cells.
It may boost overall immune strength.
Chemical reason for effect: sulfur conpounds.

No reserch quotes but I recently bought a pair of clowns and they ended up having ich so I soaked their food in garlic and after two minor infestations of ich no more has been seen. Don't know if this helps....
