Is it Ich?

I have been at this for two years and thought that I knew a thing or two about this hobby, but boy was I wrong. I recently lost a powder blue tang and thought it quite normal because everyone says they are impossible to keep. I have also lost two perculas which bothers me because well they are hardy. My yellow tang has little white spots that almost look like salt buildup. I have never had a problem with the ich before. I am wondering if that is what my tang has. It is eating very well and I have only seen it scratch once. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry this is so long, but I am at my wits end. Thanks.

Try cleaner shrimp. They will help pick those things off and it's nice to watch when they do that. My mimic tang has one also in his body for the longest time since I got him from lfs but it never spread nor get any bigger. It disappeared the moment cleaner shrimp arrived. :)

I agree. Cleaner shrimp are awesome. I love to watch mine hitching rides on my singapore Angel. Ick is aweful as I can attest to. Try the garlic treatment. check in search on this site for recipe. I have been using it and I have to say, it works great.

Thanks for the imput. I really appreciate it. I would be more than willing to try the cleaner shrimp, but I am afraid that my huma trigger will eat it. My trigger isn't very big so if I get a big shrimp will it be ok. Once again thanks for the advice I really appreciate it and I am going to try garlic for sure.

Trigger would eat a cleaner shrimp. Set up a hospital tank and treat the fish. Wait about 30 days for the ick to starve in the main tank before returning the fish back in.
