Is it me, or....

Is it really hard to get a response in the Reef Forum????
I've posted several questions there, and more often than not I get no response to my question. Isn't that weird?

OK, so right after I post this...I get two responses to my question in the Reef Forum. Maybe it is just me...or maybe I got lucky today!

I'd have to agree with that!
I think it's just that so so many people post in Reef that it's tough to get a response to something! Either that or it's just such a difficult kind of tank to keep that everyone needs help all the time! I'd buy that. "Easy" is NOT how I would describe reef-keeping.
That's why I like the Aggressive Forum best (though I'm quite a fan of Photography and THIS one!). The only problem is I need the MOST help on my reef tank. Doesn't that just figure?!
Maybe if we could have an "Inverts" and "Corals" forum it would help break up the vast topic that is reef-keeping????!!!!

I'll go on record as saying the following:
For starters I have a very demanding full time job that normally starts at 3:30 am and I'm seldom home before 3:00pm...so my employment demands a decent chunk of my time.
Normally everyday of the week I spend an hour or so early in the morning checking posts primarily in the reef forum...then in the evening I dedicate about another hour of my time to checking forums. If I can respond I do...if the question is redundant(can be addressed easily via on-site search) I let it pass...we have numerous members that have experience and knowledge that can better answer some posts and for that reason amoung others I often read a post then move on with no response(you'd be amazed at the volume of posts I read and never respond to!) I look to help whenever I can but time is rather limited.
Also keep in mind that "moderators" aren't assigned to answer each and every post...and the general membership here is more than capable of responding in most situations.
Bottom line is I dedicate a considerable amount of my personal time to monitoring these forums and I still enjoy it...plus I'm a hobbyist/father/friend/husband/employee...with numerous personal interests away from this site. I feel I provide assistane and respond to posts on a very frequent basis...If myself or others have over looked your posts there is little I can do to correct that situation. But I an convinced that the general membership here does a outstanding job of responding to a large number of posts.
Maybe if you spent half as much time monitoring the volume of posts this site gets in a day as I and the other moderators do you'd begin to understand the effort involved!!!
Sorry if you feel left out...but I believe the vast majority of reasonable questions get a qualified response.

NM Reef:
I had to delete the first reply I made here, because your response really made me mad. I thought better after posting my angry response back to you because I overreacted.
Wish you had done the same thing.

...and why would my post have made you mad.
I explained how I spend my time on the forums and asserted that there are numerous members that can (and do) respond to posts. I may be a little ticked about the tone of the thread..."why don't anybody ever answer my posts"...but overall I still feel the same...I spend a lot of time here...and there is no way I could lead my life and respond to every post made on these forums. I don't even try...but I firmly believe that the vast majority of posts get a suitable/prompt response.Seriously...I had no intention to offend...simply to express my position and defend the overall effectiveness of the forums.

I'd like to define my being a little ticked...above is the start of this thread. Prior to replying here I searched for threads from polarpouch in the reef forum...I've found three threads started by polarpouch this year...with 28 replys...one of them by me. I see no basis for the premise of the thread and took exception to it.To follow it through I looked at threads from about the last year...most had a decent amount of replys and seemed to be answered...so I don't see the jist of the insinuation that there is a lack of response to threads from a particular member.

IMO, I don't think this thread was directed at a particular person or even the administration period, I realize people have lives outside of SWF.com as I do also and that there are many others besides jus moderators who can respond. IMO, it was merely someone trying to figure out if they were being singled out for some reason or if it was happening to others too, so they would know nothing was wrong. Unfortunately, you obviously took this thread waaayyy too seriously and waaayyy tooo personal, I will not speak for others but that's how I percieved it. Have a good evening. :joy:

When I read it I didn't think even think it was being direct at a mod. Most of us with any sense know that mods can't be the keepers of the key for SW. Thats why when a search is done it says to take about 10 answers/info and use your own judgement. I for one would never place the responsiblilty of all my questions for the mods. Its hard enough you have to keep up with some of the idiots that decided to step in occaisionaly and stir up trouble. (trolls).

Neither would I, and no one here did.

Thats the point...I didn't intend to insinuate you did...but as mentioned above I was concerned enough about the topic of the thread to take a look at your recent posts...there are three from the reef forum that came up...with 28 replys. My point is that search result seems to contradict the premise of your post.
Thats all...nothing more...other than I did explain the time and effort myself and others put into reviewing posts on a daily basis.
Didn't intend to create a major issue ... just making a statement is all.:notsure:
