Is it Possible

to start a sump fuge without a tank. What I am thinking is presently I am setting up my HT tank, 40 gallon breeder. What I want to do is set up a sump underneath the HT not connect it to the HT but just run it separate. Skimmer section Fuge and a return and an ATS. Gost feed it every now and then and have it ready for when I turn the HT into another SW tank, either dwarf lion or horses. What do you guys think?

I don't see why not, Al. Could throw a powerhead in the fuge and get it up and running n ready to go, start breeding pods. Like you said, ghost feed a little bit.

I agree, its basically like starting a whole new tank. If you used some LR in there from your DT and a filter than had been kept in your Dt you likley wouldn't see a cycle.

Just remember my DT has ich, so I won't be moving anything out of it, except the fish. I don't think it is a bad idea something I will have to consider over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your reply just deviate

I've set up fuges like this. It's actually really easy, I've done them with just powerheads. I actually have a fuge that a detach from one of my QT's when I'm running hypo on the tank. It's hooked to a QT that I do not use meds in, so hooking it back up isn't an issue.
