Is it the pump or is it me?

I've come to the conclusion that I must have a bad little giant 5.5. It is supposed to put out over 2000 g/hr but it can barely keep up with my 3/4" PVC overflow.
When I first plumbed it, I thought that it was having a problem because I ran the return through a chiller. So, I removed the chiller from the line and now the return rate is even lower...
It makes no sense. Is it possible that the impeller is off balance or something? I am thinking that I'll exchange it for a different model. One that also has a cooling fan.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Can you post more information about the plumbing? What kind of overflow do you have? How is the pump hooked up?

Pictures also tell a thousand words.
Also, please explain what you mean by "barely keeps up with your 3/4" overflow"

I'll post some photos tonight. But, I think that I figured out the problem.
I took the impeller off to make sure that it wasn't clogged and there was a piece of plastic from the housing that had clogged the intake. The housing has several holes drilled in the plastic and it looks like the plastic from one hole was still in there.
I removed it and it pumps much better.
I am still going to change it out I think for a fan cooled pump.
